To import a spreadsheet from Excel or Google Sheets, first export your data into a CSV file. To export a CSV from Google Spreadsheets. Once the extension is installed, Office files that you drag into Chrome, open in Gmail, Google Drive and more will be opened in Docs, Sheets and Slides for viewing and editing. You can save each file back to its original Office format or convert it to Docs, Sheets or Slides to unlock more features, like inviting others to edit with you, commenting, chatting and more.
Google's free, collaborative office tools are great for a variety of things, such as planning everything from work schedules to class reunions. But if you've been using a multi-tab Google Sheets workbook for your planning needs, you may have noticed that every time you click on your bookmark, the spreadsheet opens to the same tab.
The wrong tab. Instead of opening to, say, the latest tab (or the left-most tab), it opens to the third tab in, or something equally frustrating. What gives?
Well, here's what's going on: If you're opening the workbook from a saved link (either a bookmark, or you're clicking on a link from an email), chances are you've saved that default tab right into the link. When you open up a Google Sheets workbook and navigate to a tab, the URL changes. More specifically, the number after #gid= in the URL changes, and this corresponds to the open tab.
So, if you then copy the new URL and send it to someone, paste it somewhere, or use it to bookmark the workbook, you'll open to that specific tab every time.
If you'd rather have the sheet open to the most recent tab, the solution is simple: Erase #gid= and everything that follows it from the URL and then copy the link or bookmark it.
(If you own the Sheet and/or have full editing writes, you can also erase the edit before the #gid= section, if you like.)

Google can convert a Microsoft Excel workbook to a Google spreadsheet. You can then access the file online from any computer and share it with specific people. For example, if an entire team in your company is collaborating on a sales report that uses Excel data, you can convert the workbook to a Google document so everyone in the team can edit it. You can also set a document so anyone with the link can edit it or view it.
1.Navigate your browser to the main Google Docs page (link in Resources).
2.Click the 'Upload' button, which is next to the 'Create' button, to open a drop-down menu.
4.Navigate to and select your XLSX file, then click the 'Open' button to upload it to your Google Drive space.
5.Click the checkbox next to the uploaded XLSX file.
6.Click the 'More' button at the top of the Google Drive window and select 'Export to Google Docs' in the drop-down menu that opens. Your XLSX file will be converted to a Google Documents spreadsheet.

- Converting your XLSX file to a Google spreadsheet will not overwrite the original file. Since Google Documents is now part of the Google Drive's cloud storage, your XLSX file will sit in your online account until you delete it.
